Someone Thinks I’m Honest

I have to start this post off with an apology because Candance, the Crazy Texas Mommy, was so kind to award me with the Honest Scrap Award a couple of weeks ago and I am only just now accepting. This award is for writing from the heart, so thank you. It means a lot.

Let me say too that, like Candance, I’m not one for the memes. But this is different. The timing was exquisite, landing in my inbox just after my first crushing defeat on the novel, and almost at the exact moment I decided I needed to get just a little more honest with my writing. I’m honored Candance thinks I’m so honest, especially because compared to her I’m like NBC at 6:pm.

Anyway – on with the award accepting. How this works is that I pass the award on to 7 other blogs and tell you 10 honest things about. And ladies, dear award recipients – no pressure, okay? (<-not even sarcastic)

1. Wendi Aarons – I don’t care if you’re sick of the whole kissing-Wendi’s-butt vibe going on her lately. I like her. Deal with it.
2. Bern This – Her tag line is ‘Read this and you’ll never have to meet my family’. Plus, anyone who speaks openly about a wax job deserves this award.
3. Crazy Texas Mommy – What? I can’t give it back to the person I got it from. Crap! Too bad, because she’s the honest-est one out there.
4. MyPheme – This is that new website I contributed to this week. They’re all about telling it like it is. I’m hoping I can meet the challenge.
5. My Real Life Was Backordered – Denae is just incredibly cool. – you know, for a Mormon. She seems to tell the whole truth and nothing but it.
6. The Mouthy Housewives- Cheating a little here, because both Wendi Aarons and Jessica Berns contribute to this, but it’s good stuff anyway.
7. i am minivan- This is a new blog by Kate Meyers, who, when she’s not picking Cheezits out of the cracks of her minivan seats, writes celebrity interviews for real magazines. She tells stories about her life, which is messy, like the minivan.

1. I don’t read a lot of blogs. I mean, I try, but seriously, I have a lot of other things to do, like write.
2. I’m not so fond of other peoples’ children.
3. I was born on Thanksgiving. I’m grateful for that.
4. I feel guilty about this post because most of those blogs are on my blogroll already. But whatever. See #1.
5. I wish I liked jazz, but I don’t.
6. I fall asleep during rented movies and then annoy my family with questions about the plot.
7. I jog about 8 miles a week, but I don’t consider myself a runner.
8. Country music makes me cry, but only if I’m alone in my car.
9. When I grow up I want to be Jodi Piccoult and David Sedaris.
10. Wherever I go, I meet anchorwomen.
